Thomas D. Smedile, CPA
is President and co-founder of Swarthmore Financial Advisors, Ltd., providing fee-only financial and advisory services since 1985.
Mr. Smedile earned a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Drexel University, a Masters Degree in Taxation from Widener University, and the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA). He is also registered as an investment advisor with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities. Mr. Smedile is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the largest organization of Fee-Only advisors in the United States. He is also a member of the Delaware County Estate Planning Council, and has served as President of the Delaware County Attorney/CPA Forum. Mr. Smedile is an active member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s. He has served as Trustee of the PICPA Scholarship Fund, and since 2002, he has been a member of the PICPA Investment Policy Task Force, overseeing investment selection and performance of the organization’s funds.
Mr. Smedile has been honored by Worth and Wealth Manager magazines, naming him one of the best financial advisors in the country. Recently, Philadelphia Magazine selected Mr. Smedile as a Five Star Wealth Manager who provides exceptional service and overall satisfaction. He has appeared on several TV and radio programs and has written articles on numerous financial subjects. Mr. Smedile has served as a tax instructor for the Internal Revenue Service’s Revenue Agent training program, and taught Personal Financial Planning as an adjunct professor of Graduate Taxation at Philadelphia University for several years.
